The morphology and timing of fertilization and early cleavage in the Mongolian gerbil and Deer mouse.

چکیده
Ovulation, fertilization and early cleavage have been investigated in few myomorph rodents and in only two members of the family Cricetidae. The Golden hamster (subfamily Cricetinae: Mesocricetus auratus) was studied by Graves (1945), Venable (1946a, b), Ward (1948), Strauss (1956) and Harvey, Yanagimachi & Chang (1961), using fixed and stained materials; and Austin (1956a), Samuel & Hamilton (1942) and Hamilton & Samuel (1956) examined the living eggs. The effects of delayed fertilization were investigated by Chang & Fernandez-Cano (1958) and Yanagimachi & Chang (1961). The Field vole (subfamily Microtinae: Microtus agrestis) was studied by Austin (1957). The present paper deals with the processes of fertilization and cleavage in the Mongolian gerbil (subfamily Gerbillinae: Meriones unguiculatus) and the Deer mouse (subfamily Cricetinae: Peromyscus maniculatus bairdii).

Morphological and morphometric study of early-cleavage mice embryos resulting from in vitro fertilization at different cleavage stages after vitrification
The aim of this study was to examine the possible morphological and morphometric changes resulting from vitrification of embryos at the cleavage stage. In this study, 30 mice early-cleavage embryos at different stages of cleavage, resulting from in vitro fertilization (IVF) techniques, were examined before and after vitrification. Digital images were taken from embryos before and after vitrific...
متن کاملTiming of The First Zygotic Cleavage Affects Post-Vitrification Viability of Murine Embryos Produced In Vivo
Background Timing of the first zygotic cleavage is an accurate predictor of embryo quality. Embryos that cleaved early (EC) have been shown to exhibit higher developmental viability compared to those that cleaved at a later period (LC). However, the viability of EC embryos in comparison to LC embryos after vitrification is unknown. The present study aims to investigate the post-vitrification de...
متن کاملP-23: Effect of Melatonin on In vitro Maturation, Fertilization and Resulted Embryo Development in Mouse
Background: Melatonin has been recognised as effective reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenger. antioxident melatonin effects has been expressed in management of cancer, alzheimer, diabet diseases. This study designed to determine the effect of melatonin on in vitro oocytes maturation and fertilization and cleavage and blastocyst development rate of mouse. Materials and Methods: Cumulus - oocyt...
متن کاملComparison of Embryo Development between Intracytoplasmic and Piezo-Assisted Sperm Injection after Treating Mouse Sperms by Ca2+ Ionophore
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and Piezo-assisted sperm injection after pretreatment with calcium ionophore (CaI) on the mouse embryo development. Methods: In this study, the conventional ICSI and Piezo-ICSI procedures were used. The efficacy of the methods was examined after mouse matured oocytes were fertilized with or witho...
متن کاملP-94: The Effect of Calcium Ionophore A23187 and Ethanol on Parthenogenetic Activation of Mouse Oocytes in Presence of Hydrostatic Pressure and Cy-tochalasin B
Background: Parthenogenetic activation of mammalian oocytes using artificial stimuli is commonly used in various reproductive bio-techniques. Calcium ionophore is known to elevate intracellular calcium levels in the cytoplasm of oocytes through the influx of calcium from extracellular spaces. Ethanol promotes a single intracellular Ca2+ increase of greater and longer amplitude than the initial ...
